Promise

I was inspired by a correspondent to post this picture of a young Ernest Hemingway fishing in Walloon Lake in 1904. (Credit: Photograph in the Ernest Hemingway Photograph Collection, John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, Boston.)

Interpret it, if you please, as a promise of the summer to come.

what an up and sunny tuesday
the cardinals in the sun
just thinkin bout the next time
we meet to have some fun
lazy sunny summer
up and on its way
sunshine blooms of spring
all reaching for the day
the music of the song birds
perched up on the lines
yes love bird time is coming
its up and on its way
shorten up those sleeves
and leave that coat behind
T'shirts shorts and sandles
it hokie pokie time
time to hit the lake
and feel the waves come in
oh it feels so good
cause summers here again
